Electric Circuit

The path is complete, so current flows and the connected device can work.

Open Circuit

The path has a break, so current stops and the connected device does not work.

Series and Parallel Connections

Components can be connected in one path or in separate branches.

Series Connection

Components are connected one after another in a single path. If the path breaks at one point, current stops throughout the circuit.

Components are connected in separate branches. One branch can continue working even if another branch is open.

Remember: Domestic electrical appliances are generally connected in parallel so that they can operate independently.
