Light helps us see.
Objects become visible when light reaches our eyes.
Light usually travels in straight lines.
This is called rectilinear propagation.

📏 5. Rectilinear Propagation of Light

Light travels in straight lines when it moves through the same transparent medium. This explains why aligned holes allow light through and why sharp shadows can form.

A pinhole camera is a simple light-proof box with a tiny hole on one side and a screen on the opposite side. Rays from the top and bottom of the object cross at the pinhole, producing an inverted image.
